Commodities FAQ
What is tokenised gold?
Tokenised gold is a crypto token that represents ownership of physical gold held by a custodian. PAX Gold (PAXG) and Tether Gold (XAUT) each represent one troy ounce of London Good Delivery gold.
Is tokenised gold the same as owning gold?
You hold a claim on gold kept by the issuer's custodian, not the metal itself. Check the issuer's audits, fees and redemption rules, and remember the token carries smart-contract and issuer risk.
Why compare Bitcoin with gold?
Bitcoin is often called “digital gold” because its supply is capped at 21 million. In practice it has been far more volatile than gold, so the two behave very differently in most markets.
